Stretch Pants are IN!

I finally broke down and stepped foot into a maternity/motherhood store. RBM.

In the last week the baby has taken over more space inside of me, therefore making it really uncomfortable for me to wear my normal clothes (even with the Bella Band)! It's so strange laying on my side and seeing this bellowing belly laying beside me. I love it, but whoa!!!!!!!! I'm going to get really huge in a few months. And by "a few" I mean 4. FOUR MONTHS LEFT?? OMG... I'm halfway done.

Anyway, I have been fighting the dreaded maternity clothes too long... I broke down and bought a pair of totally cute brown corduroy pants with that weird stretchy shit on the top. LET ME TELL YOU: it's wonderful. I'm comfortable and stylish... what more could a 5 month pregnant lady ask for??

Never eating Chipotle again

Courtney and I were sicker than dogs on Thursday and Friday due to some poisoning we received from our local Chipotle Restaurant. On further inspection we have heard other accounts of this poinsoning happening to other friends after eating at this same establishment. I was frightened about the baby, but all is well... after 14 hours of vomitting out of our mouths and behinds, we're feeling better.

Food poisoning is the worst punishment.

By the way- what is sicker than a dog? Are dogs really sick, because Skylar seems fine.

Baby's First Pictures!

This morning we had our first ultrasound... it was so much fun seeing our baby move around and kick and stretch and scratch its face and do some amazing acrobatics. If you look in the final picture you can see its legs going up by its head and its arms reaching above its head to the feet... so cute!!! Do you see it???

The Itchy and Scratchy Show!

The Face Says Enough:
I hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving! It was a good one for us... lots of food, a few new friends made, and turkey-turkey-turkey!! MMMM...

Thanksgiving Eve Julia and I were at her brother's house and my belly started itching and bothering me. Luckily I had some Mother's Belly Salve in my purse. I had to apply the stuff about 5 times. It helps expand the skin and prevent stretch marks (we'll see!).

All night I was playing the Itchy & Try-Not-to-Scratchy Show... It was RBM... rrrrbm. The next day we went to some friends house for Thanksturkey and I was playing the same game- running off to the bathroom every 45 minutes to apply the salve. Friday morning I woke up with a belly that screams PREGNANT. Well, to me at least. At first I thought it was a coincidence that I looked bigger because- Thanksgiving. But ... no. I am considerably pregnantly bigger.

5 Months To Go & Counting... woo-hoo!!! xoxoxo

Day 108 and counting...

Really? 108 days already? Damn. Well it's official. There's a baby in there. I felt it move today!!! Unless I had gas... which is totally possible. But I was walking to class and I felt some twitching going on... and well... it's the movement of the fetus. I think. It didn't quite feel like butterflies hatched inside my swelling baby protector, but it did feel new and different.

It could have been gas, since I'm only 3.859 months along. Can you feel it that early?

Hypnoyes

We're just about here: +++===+++===+++===***************************************===+++===+++===+++

This week I found out something interesting. Lamaze is bullshit.

I'm going to do this instead: Hypnobirthing:

Why work myself up with all that heavy breathing and screaming? Totally unnecessary.

A landfill is not a composting facility...

For the past week now I've been thinking a lot about diapers. I can remember when my brothers were in diapers, cloth diapers. My mother would put the shitty ones in the toilet to soak, and I had the pleasure of rinsing them out before putting them in the wash. I'm not sure if putting the dirty cloth in the toilet was typical, but that's what I remember of cloth diapers. Thankfully there have been advances in the diaper industry since the 1980-somethings.

Now onto some of my recent research:

The G Diaper:

Sweet.
Watch the videos: http://www.gdiapers.com/watch_vid.

**Disposable, but biodegradable! However, I would have to compost them in my own yard because no diaper can biodegrade and break down in an airtight landfill. Just saying. Diaper garden?

The Fuzzi Bunz Diaper:
http://babiesinchico.com/fbcolors.aspx. Nice... made here in Chico. Keeping the shits local.

Oh, and where am I supposed to put these diapers? How should I transport them??

I've eaten too many sandwiches, so it seems...

Funny thing happened while getting for work ready this week: I can't button my pants. I've bought one of those Bella Bands: http://www.ingridandisabel.com/ and it is wonderful... keeps my pants up and hides the fact that the fly is down and the button is open, but I still don't really look preggers. It just looks like I need to take up running as a hobby.

While Jacob and I were visiting my parents last weekend my cousin and mother were off to the side, giggling, and glancing in my direction When I asked them what was so funny- they said something about 'it finally happened'. AKA: me turning 30 and that I've gained some belly weight (all snickering and pointing fingers)... this was before they knew what was going on underneathe my too-tight-clothes. I simply said, "Well, there's a reason for that!!"... and this was how my family found out I'm pregnant. That's the thing about being 3.5 months pregnant: you just look chubbier. It's kind of annoying...

"That thing would be great for Thanksgiving!" --coworker on the Bella Band.

Heart Beats Twice

A few weeks ago I heard the heartbeat for the first time... It wast he most amazing thing I've ever heard. My midwife explained everything to me in detail about what was going on inside of my body. I heard my heart, my blood swoshing through the placenta, and heard the very strong heartbeat of our baby. It made me instantly start crying... I just could not believe the healthy sound coming from within me is one day going to be a beautiful person standing in front of me smiling. It's hard to explain the thoughts that went through my mind when I heard an other heart beating because of my heart beating, but I was overjoyed listening to that strong tempo.

It's the sweetest thing.
